Why I chose this program/Grand Rapids for my training

I chose Mercy Health Saint Mary's for a surfeit of reasons. To have my faith welcomed and accepted in an enthralling program whose mission is to serve in the spirit of the Gospel has been a dream come true. As a fluent bilingual and bicultural medical instrument who hailed from Puerto Rico’s humble beginnings, my yen has been to be of service to those in underserved areas and Spanish speaking communities. Due to it being a referral center for multiple affiliated hospitals with state of the art facilities, different modalities that specialize in the deliverance of integrated patient-care stemmed from supportive team-based frameworks across all spectrums of medicine are made available to me, which I embrace. In addition, due to the opportunities I have had as a teacher and mentor, I am fond that I am given the opportunity to work with medical students from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Although it gets extremely cold du ring the winter, I am proud to say that the warmth of those within this safe city makes freezing temperatures an honor to experience.

Hobbies/what I do outside of work

When I am not reading or working, I enjoy watching movies while eating low calorie popcorn and playing mind games with my family and friends. I have a liking for makeup and applying it to others. Last but not least, I am attracted to Latin music and as soon as I hear the rhythm, my feet follow.
